Monster Madness: Hijinks in the Reel Kingdom of Monsters Inc.

Monster Madness is centered on goofy-looking monsters. For the entire gameplay, a two-headed monster will be standing on the right side of the playing grid. It will keep flashing you smiles as you play. I found the futuristic city in the background quite well-drawn. It’s full of tall buildings, and fast cars can be seen moving in the distance. 

I was disappointed that the game had very low payouts. The monsters are the highest-paying symbols, but the top one only has a reward of 12X. Standard card symbols are the low-paying icons. With these, you’ll get prizes of between 0.5X and 1.5X. 

Monster Madness has very simple playing rules. You can spin the reels using the spacebar. If you find the game slow, you can turn on turbo mode. A much easier option is to turn on the auto-spin feature. You can start and stop it conveniently using the letter A key on your keyboard. 

The standout feature in this game is the free spins bonus. I found it hard to trigger this bonus, and most times, I only got 5 free spins. It’s even worse that the bonus can’t be retriggered. A maximum of 11 free spins can be awarded at a time, but this requires 9 scatters. In my experience, this is almost impossible to get. 

The only good thing about the free spins bonus is that it comes with scattered wilds. These multiply your winnings by 2. If you’re lucky enough to get multiple wilds in a winning line, the multipliers will be increased even further. For example, 2 wilds will get a 4X multiplier. 

To sum up, Monster Madness wasn’t the most lucrative slot. While it has a free spins bonus, this feature is quite hard to trigger. You won’t even be able to retrigger it. That said, I was impressed with the game design and soundtrack.
