Yggdrasil's Giga Zombies prove that clearing an ancient temple full of zombies was a terrible career choice. Fortunately, it arms you with Gigablox symbols, cascading reels, free spins, a feature-filled progress bar with wins of up to 6,260x your bet. The game takes place on a 6x5 grid using scatter pays, meaning 8 or more matching symbols anywhere on the reels form a winning combination. Symbol payouts range from 0.10x to 25x your bet, and the hit rate felt surprisingly generous. Lower-paying royals regularly landed in clusters, letting me collect returns between 0.30x and 2x my bet every two to three spins, with several back-to-back wins sometimes.

A golden chalice acts as the Wild, but the real attraction sits above the reels. Every avalanche fills a progress bar, gradually unlocking 2x2 to 4x4 Gigablox symbols, random Wild drops, and eventually eight free spins after nine cascading wins. It's an ambitious system, though I found relying on nine consecutive cascades a little too far-fetched.

Instead, I waited for the traditional route and eventually landed four Scatter symbols after roughly 40 spins. The bonus awards eight free spins, with Gigablox symbols, avalanches, and multipliers. Four spins into the round, a 6x multiplier combined with several Gigablox symbols to produce a 15x payout, while the remaining spins chipped in with smaller wins to finish on a small but welcome 34.30x return.

The progress bar is a neat idea, but asking players to string together nine cascades just to earn free spins feels optimistic at best. Thankfully, the regular hit rate stops the session from becoming a slog, making Giga Zombies far more enjoyable than I’d expected.
