Blackbeards Bounty: Search For up to 20,000x Pirate Booty on Abandoned Islands

Every pirate dreams of finding Blackbeard's lost treasure, but after spending time inside Blackbeard's Bounty, I'm fairly certain most of the crew would've mutinied before getting there. BGaming brings us cascading reels, growing multipliers, and free spins that can theoretically build all the way to 20,000x your bet. The idea sounds fantastic on paper but reality was a little less exciting.

The game uses a 5x3 grid with 243 ways to win. Symbol pays sit between 0.05x and 1x your bet, which looks terrible until you realize the slot is built entirely around cascades. Every winning combination removes the participating symbols, new ones fall into place, and the multiplier increases for the next hit in the chain. 

The first win pays at 1x, the next at 2x, then 4x, 8x, and so on. To help keep those chains alive, every winning cascade leaves a wild behind on the grid. It almost feels like BGaming is apologizing for giving a cascading slot such a tiny playing area. Even with the extra wilds, the base game struggled to impress me. Wins arrived every 3 to 5 spins and usually landed somewhere between 0.20x and 2.40x my bet. 

Free spins trigger when three or more bonus symbols land anywhere on the reels. Depending on how many appear, you receive between 7 and 11 free spins. The main attraction here is that the multiplier no longer resets between spins. If you manage to keep winning, it carries over and keeps growing throughout the entire feature. 

My first bonus round gave me the minimum of seven free spins and immediately demonstrated how cruel this slot can be. I landed exactly one winning spin at the start of the feature, then watched the remaining six spins produce absolutely nothing. The final payout came out to a miserable 0.80x my bet, which might genuinely be the smallest bonus round I've seen all week.

The second trigger wasn't much kinder. Once again, I got the minimum seven spins. Most of the round was completely dead until the final spin delivered five consecutive cascades. That one sequence dragged the feature to a total of 7.70x my bet. Better than the first attempt, sure, but still nowhere near what a high-volatility bonus round should be delivering.

Blackbeard's Bounty has a few clever ideas. The growing multiplier system works well, and the wilds appearing after every cascade help create the feeling that something bigger could be around the corner. Unfortunately, the tiny grid and painfully inconsistent bonus round make it difficult to stay invested for long.
