Mystery Heist: Themed Well, but Its Features Aren't Rewarding

When Mystery Heist loaded, I liked the look of it and thought it was presented well. As you can tell from its name, the slot is based on a heist, with the action taking place in a closed museum. The graphics are pretty good and the music goes along with the theme well.

During my playthrough, I ended up losing a large amount of money. This was partly because of the base game, which wasn’t rewarding despite there being 1,024 ways to win on the 5x4 grid. I won quite often, but the payout rates for the symbols were generally quite low.

Then there was the Sticky Mystery Prize feature. Sticky safe symbols stayed in place for three spins. Whenever there were four on screen, each one would reveal a cash prize that I’d then win.

There were multiple spins with four sticky safes in view, but the total cash reward was mostly just a few times my bet. On one occasion, I won 11x from the safes, but this was an exception, rather than the norm.

The free spins round didn’t trigger on its own, so I bought it for the cost of 70x my bet. This started with 10 spins and the three scatters that triggered it turned into safes that stayed in place for the entire round.

This sounded promising and could have resulted in lots of payouts. However, it didn’t. My final payout from the free spins round was just 8x, which was a major loss. It was a key reason why I lost so much money playing the slot.

Based on my experience, I wouldn’t play Mystery Heist again, though it still has a few good qualities. I was just unlucky enough not to benefit from the slot at all. If you decide to play it, think twice about buying free spins.
