In Boom Mine SuperWays by Hot Rise Games, you’ll be resting on a snowy mountain, with pine trees, a small cabin at the bottom of the hill, and a grid framed in stone like the entrance to a mine shaft. I’d say that a cabin down the hill looked more inviting than anything else inside the grid.

This slot has a solid concept behind its 5-reel, 3-row layout at 243 ways and 96.06% RTP. The mine stayed closed, though.

My two best spins paid 0.3x and 0.375x my bet. Owls and royals, that was it.

Any symbol can carry dynamite, and when it wins, everything around it explodes. New symbols cascade in, and if the blast reaches past the grid's edge, new reels and rows open. 

At full expansion, that translates to 9 reels, 9 rows, and 387 million ways. Gems hide in newly opened positions with multipliers from 2x to 10x that stack across cascades.

On top of that, a gold nugget Wild covers all symbols except the Bonus mine cart and lands on any reel but the first. Three carts open Super Spins, where the expansion rules loosen, so the grid can stretch wider. A Bonus Buy is there too, which, after my session, I completely understand.

In 50 spins, not a single cascade made it past the first step. The grid never grew, no Gems appeared, and Super Spins stayed out of reach. Same 3-row mine from start to finish, and it gave me no reason to dig deeper.

Overall, the design is fine, the concept has potential, but this one left nothing to remember.

What The Fruit: Can You Squeeze 10,000x Profit Out of These Smiling Fruits?

Every fruit on this grid has a face, and a smile riddled with its own character. The design shows the tropical island, the volcano, and the sunset behind the bamboo frame.

What The Fruit by Hot Rise Games caught my eye right away, and its 5-reel, 4-row grid with 40 paylines and a 10,000x max win gave me reason to stay. Little did I know that that was a mistake. But we’ll get to it a bit later.

You should know that this slot plays on a low-medium volatility at 94% RTP, and I felt both within the first dozen spins. Royals returned between 0.3x and 1x my bet most of the time, pineapples and pears hit around 1.5x on their best spins, and the balance just kept leaking.

The part that could have proven most profitable is, in my opinion, the blender mechanic. Three fruits, green apple, blueberry, and strawberry, all collect into blenders above the reels. Once one fills, that fruit becomes Wild with a 2x multiplier on any win it completes. A green Wild closed a watermelon four-of-a-kind for 3x my bet. Not a big moment, but the system works.

Where the real upside is supposed to live is in the Respins. Each color does something different when it triggers. Green awards 4 respins that reset with every Prize. Blue stretches the grid to 25 positions. Red adds a side reel with multipliers at 2x, 3x, or 5x per row. Prize symbols only drop during these rounds.

I saw Green fire once. One Prize, roughly 4x my bet, done. Blue and Red never left their blenders, so the expanded grid and the multiplier reel stayed theoretical.

Overall, decent mechanics stuck behind a session that didn't want to show them off. The fruit kept smiling, but there wasn't much to smile about on my end.

The apocalypse is finally here in Hot Rise Games’ Maximum Zombie slot, where we see a city engulfed in fire. Our job is to track down the wizard who cast his magic spells to turn people into zombies, and along the way, use chainsaws, shotguns, and hand grenades to cut down the cascading zombie horde. Each one can carry up to 40x cash prizes, so let’s get to work! 

The undead rise across a 5x4 grid with 1,024 paylines, meaning as long as you land matching symbols on adjacent reels, you will get a win. Each winning symbol combination also triggers a cascade in which all winning symbols are removed from the grid, and new ones fall down. In my experience, I mostly made between 0.40x to 1.80x payouts every three to four spins. 

Symbol combinations never felt like the main attraction here, not even in the base game. Sure, some of them went over the 10x mark, but what I was really looking forward to were zombie scatter symbols and weapon symbols that would absolutely annihilate them to collect cash prizes within the zombies. 

It is a pretty neat system, the chainsaw sweeps a single reel, and if you have a scatter under or over it, it gets dealt with. The pump-action shotgun covers the entire reel and row where it lands and does the same. But hands down the best collect symbol in this slot is the hand grenade, it sweeps the entire grid and any zombie symbol that’s present gets dealt with, and its cash prize becomes yours. 

This feature got me as low as 2x wins and as high as 36x payouts depending on the zombies available. Similarly, five or more scatter symbols trigger the max spins feature, which gets you eight free spins with sticky scatter symbols that get an epic 2x multiplier added with each spin on top of their cash prizes. There’s more to the feature, but that’s the gist of it.

Now this feature can go one of two ways, either you keep landing collect symbols and earning small prizes, or you don’t land a collect symbol at all and watch scatters worth over 150x your bet just pass on by with zero payouts. The first time I triggered this bonus, I made no wins at all, but the second time helped me cross into double-digits with a 74.20x payout. 

Overall, Maximum Zombie by Hot Rise Games is definitely one to watch out for. The medium-high volatility feels only applicable to the base game, and the bonus brings extreme swings that can easily become too hot to handle. If you like the premise and enjoy 3D graphics in your slots, definitely give it a spin. If not, I’d suggest sticking to the Maximum Zombie free demo for now.
