The reel set of Longbeards Chest is as simple as it gets, you have 5 reels, 3 rows, and 20 paylines with medium volatility to form symbol combinations. I found that making wins was pretty easy right from the beginning of my playthrough. I was landing symbol combinations every 2 to 4 spins with payouts between 0.40x to 3x my bet. 

On random spins, a cannon is loaded and shot right through the playable grid that slams a 3x3 giant symbol onto them. This is the first and most frequent feature that I came across in the base game. On average, this feature got me between 11.5x to 29x returns depending on the symbol that was randomly chosen. 

Although impressive, these wins started paling in comparison to the potential payouts of the bonus trigger. The free spins feature is triggered by landing 3 or more bonus symbols which I was able to do thrice during my playthrough with some noteworthy results. 

During the bonus round, the cannon feature is activated on each spin which brought me 3 to 9 symbols adjacent to each other which only needed a symbol on the right or the left to make a winning combination. Plus, once you make a win, it is set as the minimum win which is awarded to you if you don’t make wins greater than the last payout you had. 

Each time you land a bigger payout than the minimum win, the amount is changed to your current win which was the best feature in the game. I made up to 36.60x returns on my bet thanks to the minimum win going up to 9x my bet at one point! 

On a final note, the Longbeards Chest slot game also brings an option to skip the base game and reach the free spins bonus directly by using the bonus buy button. However, due to the high 50x cost of the feature, I wouldn’t recommend buying it, simply play through the base game and you’ll have plenty of chances of triggering the bonus game.
