My journey started off rough, as it took 5 spins to land my first win, which was a meager 0.24x my bet. It was a clear sign that the battle ahead wasn’t going to be easy. 

The same pattern kept up for the first half of my playthrough, with small wins coming every 3 to 5 spins, ranging from 0.24x to 1.80x my bet. A few wins did reach 2.96x, but I still wasn’t making enough to stay in the green. To stop my shrinking bankroll from drying up completely, I decided to take a chance on the gamble feature, hoping for a big win to turn things around.

With each symbol combination, I had the chance to opt into the card gamble feature where predicting the color of an upside-down card doubled my rewards and predicting its suit quadrupled it. I had to use this feature sparingly on smaller wins and I was able to get them up to 4.32x my bet in some cases. 

However, the gamble feature is available for only one round which meant that most of my wins remained low and going after the battle bonus was my only option. It took me a little time to land 3 shield scatter symbols which got me a ticket to play 5 free spins. Landing additional scatters during this round is key as they can unlock extra spins with multipliers. 

I managed to land 3 extra scatters during the free spins, giving me 10 spins with a 5x multiplier. However, the low symbol payouts still held back my potential, and even with the 5x multiplier, I only secured a modest 14.60x win. Undeterred, I went for another shot at the bonus round, and this time, I had much better luck. With a 25x multiplier and 15 spins, I finally landed a big win worth 67.40x my bet, making the effort feel worthwhile.

Just as history often forgets the nearly 6,000 other Greeks who fought alongside the Spartans at Thermopylae, I’d like to forget my playthrough of 300 Shields Extreme.
